No Sleep till Brooklyn...
Thursday 19. of February 2009
An epic trip out on the bus from San Jose put us back into the quiet vibe of Santa Teresa. The waves have arrived, whales have been sighted just off of the coast, new videos have been posted, and the program has finally been released. The final pre-event BBQ is scheduled for tonight, the dolly has been made, our documentary crew is in place, and the town is starting to fire up with anticipation for… well, to be absolutely honest… we are not sure yet! Either way, it is fired up in the regular Costa Rican Pura Vida way… excitement, but not quite enough to make you roll over in your hammock. Ahhhh… the chance to Breathe.
Having said all that, the organization is coming together as is the local community. We have had a great week checking out a lot of the different people and their projects. We were lucky enough to hook up with long time local, Tom Ritchie, the first ‘Gringo’ to live here year round. Arriving in the area over 2 years ago, he has spent a good 10 years of that working on his boat, the “Auroroa Deflin”. A labor of love, and made from local woods and materials, we had a day doing the documentary interview with Tom based on how the area has changed since he arrived and his views on the world. A great day had by all.
The rest of the week has seen the organic growth of the concept, an ever changing schedule and a plethora of good ideas and positive energy. Even down to a possibility that three Costa Rican National Football players will make it down to the football tournament on the Thursday. National press is sure to follow, and Adidas is donating a new kit for the four local schools and the Seniors teams before the town puts on a town party, local bands and a show for visiting internationals.
We have had the chance to put together a couple of videos over the course of the week to give people an idea of what they can expect. Our director, Rene and second camera Mone have been on fire, already about 15 hours of footage in. We have managed to get a video profile up of the Rainsong Sanctuary which is both as inspiring as it is sad. We visited Doug at Galeria Inspiracion to look at what to expect for the Arts and Crafts workshops. We talked to Nat about what to expect on the Eco Horse Tour. Our Swedish Hip Hop crew, Prop Dillan have sent a shout out from the cold of Borlänge, Sweden. And finally, we checked out Stefano to see what is going to happen at the Yoga Courses.
More videos are coming online each day as we visit the area and prepare the ground for Sunday's arrival and opening of activities. The sound systems are in place. The lights are coming in, the workshops are arranged, and the last minuted arrangements are being made. No stress, and no panic. In this part of the world, thing sort of work, or sort of don’t… that’s just the way it is. We are ready, the town is ready… to Breathe.
We hope to have small edits from each day of the Breathe main days, maybe even a couple of sneaky profiles and regular updates. With the documentary in full swing and the event about to start, Blogs may suffer a lengthy delay as we have a lot going and a large area to cover.
But keep coming back, there will be plenty to see, hear and read...
Pura Vida.
