Born and bred in Southern California,  this photographic artist was inspired at a young age.  His first camera was able to function in the watery environment he would come to love.  The ocean played a big part in his developing years and allowed him to see the world in a different light.

Early on he started bringing his visions to the likes of magazines such as Surfing, Surfer, Transworld Surf, Water, and to similar worldly publications.  He has worked with countless companies on video and photo campaigns over years, which share his enthusiasm for the sport.  

Exploring the art of image making has always help to push his art into the future.  Devoted to his craft he continues to evolve using traditional techniques and new technology.  He has embraced technology that has allowed him to create the impossible and sees no end to the possibilities.  

As for the future, Matty is concentrating on bringing a new look to the otherwise ordinary. Whether these images are pleasing subjects to relax with or commentary on the world in general, Matty plans on his continued success through this medium.

 

Matty Thomas will be giving photography workshops, photoshop tutorials, photography field trips, camera settings & lighting over the week of Breathe for budding to experienced photographers.
